About Upper Valley Sewing Center
Hi, I'm Stephanie!
Welcome to Upper Valley Sewing Center, where technical expertise meets a lifelong passion for sewing. Located in the heart of the Upper Valley, I am proud to operate as a woman-owned business dedicated to serving our vibrant community with professional sewing machine repair, clothing alterations, and educational programs for all skill levels.
The roots of Upper Valley Sewing Center trace back to a childhood curiosity. At nine years old, I discovered my mother’s sewing machine tucked away in the basement. Teaching myself how to use it, I began by crafting stuffed lizards and quickly fell in love with the creative process. By high school, my focus had expanded to quilting and sewing my own clothing, solidifying a lifelong passion for the art of sewing.
This love for sewing naturally evolved into a commitment to helping others maintain and enhance their sewing experiences. Seeing the need for sewing machine repair services in the Upper Valley inspired me to turn my passion into a business. Recently, I earned my certification as a sewing machine repair technician from the Sewing Machine Repair Institute in Temple, TX. Armed with technical expertise and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, I launched Upper Valley Sewing Center to fill this gap in our local community.
The Upper Valley isn’t just where I live; it’s where I hike, dance, and connect with neighbors who inspire me every day. This community is at the heart of what I do. I’m committed to providing services that cater to our shared needs, from reliable sewing machine repair and clothing alterations to creating spaces for learning and creativity. Whether it’s mending a beloved garment or restoring your sewing machine, Upper Valley Sewing Center is here to support your journey.
While I currently operate from a home-based workshop, my dream is to grow into a community-focused storefront. Imagine a welcoming space where you can bring your machine for repairs, shop for fabric and sewing supplies, and join engaging classes—from beginner sewing lessons to advanced techniques. I also envision expanding clothing alteration services, offering even more ways to keep cherished items in use and looking their best. In 2025, my goal is to participate in local markets to sell handmade sewn and quilted goods, further connecting with the community and showcasing the creativity that defines Upper Valley Sewing Center. My ultimate goal is to offer after-school sewing programs for all ages and create a hub for creativity and learning in the Upper Valley.
When I’m not busy repairing machines or sewing, I enjoy being an active member of the Upper Valley community. I’m a proud member of the Raqs Salaam Dance Theatre, the Noble Science Academy, and currently serve as Vice-President of the Northern Lights Quilt Guild. I’ve even laced up my skates as a roller derby player in the past! My love for the outdoors has driven me to complete the 3-season Hundred Highest hiking list, a challenge that reflects the determination I bring to everything I do.
You’ll often find me exploring local trails and the rail trail with my dog, Summer, who shares my love for the outdoors and is always up for an adventure. Additionally, I’m proud to support local arts by providing free costume alterations for dancers in Raqs Salaam Dance Theatre’s annual performances.
At Upper Valley Sewing Center, I’m more than a service provider—I’m your partner in creativity, problem-solving, and craftsmanship. Whether it’s repairing your beloved sewing machine, learning a new skill, or finding the perfect fit for your clothing, I’m here to help. Let’s create something beautiful together!
